Laboratory Testing Services

MikroPul maintains comprehensive dust collector and filter testing laboratories around the world dedicated to conducting original research as well as providing a wide range of services for our customers.

MikroPul has two VDI units which are able to characterize the filtration behavior of filter media in a fast and reliable way at both ambient and high temperature ranges. Material properties can be analyzed by modern chemical and physical devices such as thermal analysis, spectroscopy, chromatography, particle size analysis and other advanced techniques for interface characterization. Typical examples of applications are the determination of cryogenic grinding temperature, thermal behavior of dust particles and filter media, and the determination of separation efficiencies of dust collectors in the size range between 10µm and 40µm.

To help customers select the best media for their application, MikroPul developed the Filter Efficiency Media Analyzer (FEMA), which simulates media performance in real life collector operations.

Our Technical Center is equipped to accurately measure:

  • Anions and cations, such as fluorides, bromides, and phosphates
  • Low water concentration in liquids or bulk material
  • Characteristic adsorption of infrared light
  • Contact angle and surface tension
  • Fluoride concentration
  • Adsorption and desorption isotherms

We can characterize particles to measure:

  • Real density
  • BET surface area
  • Particle size distribution by laser light diffraction and sieve analysis
  • Size distribution of airborne particles by scattered light analysis and electrical mobility measurement

We can perform thermal analysis to measure:

  • Weight loss, thermal behavior of dust and filter media, and flash point
  • Melting point, glass transition, and specific heat capacity

We conduct filter tests to measure:

  • Characteristic behavior o filter media under defined conditions

  • Permeability of filter media and characteristic behavior of filter media under defined conditions up to 800°C (1,472°F)
  • Filter rate, pressure drop, and clean gas concentrations up to 650°C (1,202°F)

Our field testing services include testing to measure:

  • High volatile organic components
  • H2O, CO2, SO2 and collect samples for determination of PAH, BTX, Phenol, Cresols, HC1, HF, Br2, Cl2, Hg, etc.
